I'm a sucker for scale. This rig is built just like a real VW Beetle. It'll make a great "trail truck"
Although I wouldn't recommend this kit to newbs (it's an intricate build), it was fun and challenging to tackle
I'm only going to run 2s so the power isn't overwhelming. The design of the steering system is fuckin' awful. This a re-release with updates, why wouldn't they fix it? Because Tamiya, that's why. They do some super weird shit, but the kits are cool as fuck so we put up with it.

I wanted this thing the second I saw it. I had to save up for a bit, $800 bucks is a hard pill to swallow
A box-body Chevy with a suspension lift and huge tires looks so damn cool. I just had to get that look. Traxxas 1.9 Canyons from a TRX4 Bronco and RC4WD lift blocks did the trick
The big tires look great, but they grind the body. I went back to the stock wheel combo; but I cut the tires, flipped them backwards, and installed Crawler Innovations foams

I had 2 Ascender bodies to use as alternates on my TF2. That turned out to be an impractical idea, so might as well get the truck that goes with the bodies! Right?
The kit went together great. I had no issues. Now it just needed electronics.
I used electronics that were cheap, but still good quality. Hobbywing ESC, Holmes Hobby motor, Radiolink RX/TX combo, and RC4WD servo.
The performance is excellent. I ran it for the first time in snow with RTR tires and it did pretty damn good.
